Fingers crossed, I’m hoping not to have to use either the two tubes that I’m bringing or the spare tire. But they’re there, in case I need them.
Multi-tool is a must, as is a bike pump, bike lock, and some chain lube. Here’s my detailed list:
- helmet
- bike shoes
- gloves
- three water bottles
- bike lock
- bike rope to secure the wheels and the seat, if I ever feel paranoid
- 2 spare tubes
- 1 spare tire
- mini pump
- tire gauge
- multi-tool
- tire levers
- rain cover for my Brooks saddle
- Tri-Flow Superior Lubricant
- Boeshield T-9 wax lube
- zip ties
- pedal wrench
Note: When weighing everything, I did not weigh the shoes, the helmet or the pedal wrench. I figured that since the shoes will me on my feet and helmet on my head, I won’t really consider those as cargo weight and the pedal wrench stays with the bike bag back in Havana for the duration of my trip.
