Packing Part 4 – Bike Stuff

Fingers crossed, I’m hoping not to have to use either the two tubes that I’m bringing or the spare tire. But they’re there, in case I need them.

Multi-tool is a must, as is a bike pump, bike lock, and some chain lube. Here’s my detailed list:

  • helmet
  • bike shoes
  • gloves
  • three water bottles
  • bike lock
  • bike rope to secure the wheels and the seat, if I ever feel paranoid
  • 2 spare tubes
  • 1 spare tire
  • mini pump
  • tire gauge
  • multi-tool
  • tire levers
  • rain cover for my Brooks saddle
  • Tri-Flow Superior Lubricant
  • Boeshield T-9 wax lube
  • zip ties
  • pedal wrench

Note: When weighing everything, I did not weigh the shoes, the helmet or the pedal wrench. I figured that since the shoes will me on my feet and helmet on my head, I won’t really consider those as cargo weight and the pedal wrench stays with the bike bag back in Havana for the duration of my trip.

Total weight: 7.6 lbs
