I really should be unpacking, but a mid-week hike is hard to resist!
Today Lisa, Micah, Jeff, Ashlyn, Josie, Peachy and I hit the Wallace Falls trail. Hardly any other users and those that were there had their dogs with them.
The weather was mild, the dogs were energetic and Ashlyn enjoyed her hike, although she wished her sister was there (alas, mid-week means school).
Wallace Falls is one of those iconic NW hikes that apparently everyone has been on before, except for me. It’s a very well maintained trail, easy access, and it even has a bathroom somewhere mid-hike. I’m a little surprised we didn’t see an espresso stand.
We didn’t make it all the way to the Upper Falls (which is closed at the moment, I think, because of logging or something like that…), so it was a short hike, but it was good to get out anyway. 3.7 miles. 1,097 ft of elevation gain. A good warm up to a hiking season.
The traffic on the way back was horrendous though (once we got back close to the city), which was another reminder that this is mid-week, not a weekend hike.
