The Dubrovnik city walls have been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember.
So when we decided to visit Croatia this summer, I knew I absolutely had to get this urban hike under my belt.
It costs 150 kuna (or around $24) to get up on the wall and there are several entry points around the city (keep your ticket on you, you’ll be asked to show it several times).
After the initial stair climb (sorry, I forgot to count the stairs), there’s hardly anything strenuous about this walk around the city. It’s incredibly scenic and full of photo ops.
There are signs at the entry points saying you’re not to bring ice-cream or any food up on the wall with you. Water bottles are okay.
As you walk, however, you will come across stands selling refreshments (including ice cream and food).
The views from up on the wall are worth the 24 bucks. But, for a real wall hike, head on over to Ston (about 40 min north along the coast from Dubrovnik).
The walls in Ston are the real deal. I did not attempt this hike on this trip, however (90 F in the shade), but now these walls are on my bucket list.
Due to early signs of sunstroke, I forgot to start my Strava at the very start of the walk. I recorded 1.84 km. By looking at the map, I would say it’s a little over 2 km (maybe a mile and a half) in total.
